:30, september 14th. welcome jennifer hill to the bay area. she has a look at the forecast. >> good morning, everybody. it was a little cold yesterday and will be a little bit warmer today. low clouds will burn off earlier than they did yesterday. we are looking at the 8:00 a.m. forecast. 56 in livermore and 54 in fairfield. patchy fog in the forecast in the morning hours. as we get into the noon hour, 73 degrees in concord and clearing happening along the way itself. happening earlier than yesterday and temperatures will be warmer. as we head towards 4:00, temperatures near 80. cool in the evening and back into the 70s for fairfield. 75 degrees for napa and 75 for san jose. we will see some clouds towards the specific, but clearing towards san francisco and santa cruz will see 67 for a high. i know it's my first day, but talking about rain. we are looking at showers on friday. the north bay and possibly getting as far south as san mateo and it's for the weekend. not my fault! >> happy first day. mike? >> hardly my first day, but i won't talk about rain. we will leave it to jennifer. we are

shooting. >> jennifer franciotti is live with more on the story. >> there was a police tape yesterday. it will try to be business as usual today. paul pardus is the suspect. he was upset after receiving medical information about his mother. he pulled out a gun and shot the doctor. that doctor has been identified as dr. david cohen, a spinal surgeon at the hospital. we will have more on his condition in a moment. security called city police who responded with a variety of other agencies, including swat teams. for more than two hours, pardus was barricaded in a room with his mother in the nelson building. at one point, parts of the hospital were evaluated. police learned something had happened inside the room. they went in to find pardus and his mother were dead from single gunshot wounds to the head. >> at this point we're treating this case as a murder-suicides. >> as for dr. cohen, spent much of the day in surgery for a gunshot wound. we do not have an update on his condition. the big question right now, how could a government get inside the hospital? we will have more answers for th

out around 4:00 a.m. this morning. jennifer franciotti is live on the scene with the latest. >> the fire is now out and no one was hurt. it was on hillsdale, about half a block north of liberty heights. liberty heights is now shut down in both directions. kevin is here from the baltimore city fire department. nobody was hurt in this fire. >> it is a very good thing. we never look forward to a fire breaking out in someone's home. we hope to have an escape plan in place. >> this was a home but it was a vacant dwelling. nobody was inside at the time. there was a nursing home next door. >> because of the intensity of the fire, the intensity -- the intense heat and heavy smoke billowed over to an adjacent nursing home occupied with about four patients. they were quickly evacuated and taken to another facility. there was damage because of the heat at a nearby home. there was one occupant there and we were able to get them out. >> because of the fire still under investigation? >> correct. no firefighters were civilians suffered any injuries. >> it looks like liberty heights is begi

firefighters put to the test with two four-alarm fires yesterday. >> jennifer franciotti with more on that story. >> it was quite a scene yesterday. firefighters were busy fighting fires to 11 houses on two niche blocks. all but two houses were vacant. five rowhouses went up in flames there. then three more caught fire on the other side. firefighters rushed to houses on the next block. everyone did get out safely. no word on what caused the first fire, but officials are pretty sure of what happened on north cary street. >> one consideration is there may have been embers that may have been blown from one fire across the street to the next may have ignited that one. we don't know at this point. >> in all 100 firefighters responded. one firefighter suffered minor injuries. mindy back to you. >> a 34-year-old columbia man who survived an apartment fire is charged with not only setting the blaze, but killing his ex-wife moments earlier. damon white set fire to the apartment to cover up the murder of the 35-year-old woman. she obtained a restraining order against her husband in 2008. >>

and north kerry street lasted for much of the evening wednesday. 11 news reporter jennifer franciotti joins us live from the devastating scene this morning with the very latest. good morning, jen. >> good morning. fire investigators are still looking for a cause, and meanwhile, the red cross is insisting at least 12 people who have been displaced by this fire. this fire did happen on wednesday afternoon. firefighters battled two four-alarm fires on split streets within blocks of one another. the first started on north calhoun street, and it's believed, at least preliminary nearly, that employers from the fire ignited the fire that happened on north kerry street. in all, 11 rowhouses burned, most were vacant. but at this point, we're told that the red cross is assisting six families. >> we need money for clothes, food, i think some diapers. one of the families needed diapers. you know, we got them a hotel. >> there is really not much left at this rowhouse, this section of rowhouses. you can see the huge, gaping hole behind me. as i stand here on the side, it is littered with debris and broke
